There will probably be an audition, but Santa trusts you are able to choose the right level of workshops for yourselves.

However, he also kindly reminds you that attending classes on a higher level does not necessarily mean that you’re going to become a much better dancer much faster. Sometimes it is really better to take a little step back and work on your basics than rush into something too difficult.

If you’re not sure which level to choose, please let us know and The Council of Elves will help you decide.

Remember that depending on the amount of registrations to the groups we may need to change our assumptions. We really want you to get the best experience possible.

LEVEL 2 Newcomer + Novice without points WSDC.

LEVEL 3 – Minimum 1 Novice point.

LEVEL 4 – Minimum 1 Intermediate point.

LEVEL 5 – Minimum 1 Advanced point.

LEVEL 6 – Minimum 1 All-Star point.

AUDITION:

IMPORTANT

People from all levels should be on time at the beginning of the audition.
There is a chance that teachers will like to see all of you at the dancefloor at the same time.

TRUST YOUR TEACHERS
Audition is not necessarily about the level of dancing.
It allows teachers to see if the material they’ve prepared is suitable for you at this moment.
If you don’t make it to a higher level try not to take it personally. It doesn’t mean that you are a bad dancer. It just means that this time you will probably benefit more from a lower level class.
And remember – even advanced dancers benefit from lower level class.
There is always something new to learn!

ARE AUDITIONS PERFECT FOR ASSIGNING PEOPLE TO LEVELS?
In our opinion – they are not!
Neither are WSDC points by the way…
And yet we have to do it somehow and for now we have no better solution.
If you have some thoughts about this – you can find Event Directors and share your opinion. Maybe we will figure out a better solution for next year’s Santa Swing edition thanks to you.

In a perfect world, teachers would dance with everyone but we can probably all agree it is not possible during big international event. By the way – we do organise Summer Summit, a smaller event where dancers auditioning for higher levels can dance with teachers. But with this many dancers at Santa Swing it’s just not possible.
